High and dry

This from Thursday, it seems that the Bush Administration has forgotten Afghanistan, which is exactly what Bush said he would not do. In his latest budget proposal for 2003-2004 Bush forgot to put any money aside for Afghanistan. None! Let me give you some quotes from his 2002 State of the Union Address:

“America and Afghanistan are now allies against terror. We’ll be partners in rebuilding that country.”
“Our cause is just, and it continues. Our discoveries in Afghanistan confirmed our worst fears, and showed us the true scope of the task ahead.”

Task ahead? Yeah, make a mess then hall-ass out, we’ve got business in Iraq! At one time Bush said our rebuilding efforts should be like the Marshall Plan post World War 2. In case you’ve forgotten, this is exactly what the people of Afghanistan worried about because we had left them high and dry after defeating the Soviet Army.
